TOEFL star

On Saturday I almost didn't, but did, go to a house in the north of the State of Mexico for a recording session with 3 Americans. No, we're not starting a band. We accepted the fun day job of reading scripts (with emotion!) whilst being recorded for a TOEFL CD.

A university here is updating one of it's TOEFL texts, and we were the lucky ones who got to partake in the glory of the TOEFL world. It was a lot of fun. We sat in a mini-recording studio, joked, talked quickly, and used lots of slang.

The 3 Americans had already helped with past recordings. One guy is from New York, ex-navy, hilarious, and was kind enough to give me a bunch of work contacts and made himself available if I needed help. So nice and unexpected :)

Another guy is from Georgia, ex-army, formerly very religious, then went on a drug fun-spree, and is now married to an ultra religious woman who thinks the aforementioned man is the devil.

The female American is from California, she's Persian, was called 'smart' and 'a hippie' by the New Yorker, and is the one who has the verbal whip to keep the other jokesters in order enough to finish the recording session in time before the sun dips.

To top a great day off, the bf and I met our drinking friend (c'mon - we didn't do much else together, did we?) from the Crazy Apartment in Vancouver.

  1. No surprise to me--you've always been a star. I well remember the stage productions with your blonde sisters. And what is it with you, military personnel and Persians? :-)
